2024-2025 in review

Each year, we reflect on the value the Digital Restart Fund (DRF) delivers for the NSW Government and communities. Since its launch in 2019, the DRF has advanced the government’s digital transformation agenda. In 2024–25, its work continues to deliver significant impact.
What is the DRF?
The Digital Restart Fund (DRF) was established under the Digital Restart Fund Act 2020. Its purpose is to support digital and ICT initiatives across the NSW Government. These initiatives modernise outdated systems, build reusable platforms and strengthen digital capability across agencies.
2024–25 year in numbers
- Total funds invested since 2019 : over $2bn
- Number of digital products and services enhanced: 294
- Return on investment: an independent assessment by Access Economics showed that for every $1 invested, the DRF generated a $3 return
Statutory review and public consultation
In August 2025, Digital NSW sought public feedback on the Digital Restart Fund Act 2020.
The statutory review invited submissions from stakeholders across government, industry, academia and the community to assess whether the Fund’s policy objectives remain valid and continue to support effective digital service delivery.
The consultation is being used to inform a final report with recommendations and guide future improvements.
