The Government is taking a proactive approach to the Metaverse and its enabling technologies as they have the power to transform how customers work, entertain, conduct business, and socialise. The Metaverse and NSW Government report (PDF, 1.27 MB) was released in November 2022.
The report aims to help the government take advantage of the metaverse’s benefits and to also mitigate its risks. The report provides recommendations and related actions for building the government’s capability through training and development, augmenting existing systems and infrastructure, and beginning to identify approaches to governance.
DCS will be leading a range of initiatives across the NSW government relating to the Metaverse, including but not limited to addressing the recommendations tabled in the report.
