This connectivity will reshape our society and enable NSW businesses of all sizes to grow faster and be more efficient. Digitisation allows existing and emerging industries to use technology to unlock productivity, connect to global customers and suppliers and develop a pipeline of digital talent in NSW. This is a key driver to present NSW as an attractive place to do business and position itself as a thriving digital State.

New businesses, jobs and investments are attracted to regional areas

In practice, this should mean:

1. Growth of new employment opportunities and emerging industries in regional areas, including remote working and increased digital collaboration.
2. Regional industries, from agriculture to retail, are supported to increase uptake of new digital technologies and the Internet of Things (loT).

Strategic digital infrastructure investments occur in growth areas and deliver smart places

In practice, this should mean:

1. Coordinated investment is made to ensure innovation districts are characterised by having ultra-high speed digital connectivity and secure-by-design digital infrastructure to enable collaboration through low latency, secure and edge compute-enabled communications.
2. The digital connectivity infrastructure needed for meaningful connectivity is incorporated into all new developments and infrastructure.
3. Investment in digital connectivity infrastructure is coordinated across government, is privacy-by-design, secure-by design, and is prioritised to optimise place-based solutions for all customers.
